Educult TV

Educult TV was conceived as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) with the intention of addressing the need for parents to effectively monitor the educational content their young children consume through an app. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, the project was not further developed beyond its initial stage.

Challenge

During our brainstorming sessions, we encountered significant challenges, primarily centered around optimizing the onboarding process and ensuring a seamless user experience for parents less familiar with tablet devices. Additionally, a key consideration was the establishment of child profiles and empowering parents to effectively manage them from their own mobile devices, thus providing a comprehensive solution for parental control.

Responsabilities

• Brainstorming initial ideas
• Defining the Design Process
• Conducting UX research
• Setting goals and objectives
• Define development process
• Creating site maps and flows
• Wireframes and low-fidelity Prototypes
• A/B testing and Usability Testing
• High-fidelity design and high-fidelity Prototypes
• Design System creation and maintenance

Tools

• Figma (Design & Prototyping)
• Whimsical (Flow charts)
• Pen and Paper (Wireframing)
• Google Forsm (Research)

Focused pain points

In the initial stages, our curiosity led us to explore the pain points experienced by parents, and we were astounded by the prevalent anxiety they faced while their children engaged with similar applications or even when utilizing mobile phones, iPads, or tablets.

Vision & Goals

Prior to commencing the wireframing process for the first MVP, it was crucial to establish a clear understanding of the product vision and the goals we aimed to accomplish.

User Personas

In order to gain a deeper understanding of our mission, I developed a set of personas to clearly define the target audience for our product. It was of utmost importance to identify and articulate the distinct needs and expectations of these user roles.

User flows

After diligently collecting functionalities from the client workshop, I meticulously crafted user flows to gain a comprehensive understanding of the system's potential operations and determine the subsequent course of action. This careful planning provided me with a clear vision of how the system can effectively function and guided my further steps in the design process.

Wireframes and first Prototype

Through wireframing core experiences and scenarios, I developed the initial prototype version of the app, which allowed for a deeper comprehension of the flow and user experience.

Final UI Design and Prototype

Following the initial test conducted with the wireframe prototype, I proceeded to establish the UI design of the application. This involved creating components and style guides, which are presented below in the following section. Within this visual representation, you can observe the various states of the elements, such as hovering over a card or button with the iPen, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the application's complete flow.

Styleguides

Within a Design System, styles play a pivotal role as they have a profound impact on the overall product. Therefore, it is crucial to allocate sufficient time and effort to this stage of the process in order to ensure its successful implementation and optimize the final outcome.

Final UI Design

Presented here are the finalized designs, representing a pivotal stage where the product attains a state of readiness for development and market introduction. Unfortunately, due to various factors, this particular timeframe did not align optimally with the project's objectives. Nonetheless, I find great satisfaction in the achieved outcome and I am thrilled to share the final result with you.

Outcome & Learnings

The journey was quite enjoyable, offering valuable insights into the desires of parents in terms of educating and safeguarding their children from inappropriate content. It was fascinating to delve into the world of children and gain a better understanding of what types of content are deemed unsuitable for various age ranges.

On the flip side, an important lesson learned is that not every project embarked upon comes to fruition. Fortunately, the world is brimming with ideas, but timing and circumstances sometimes determine the fate of an idea. Nevertheless, this does not deter us from constantly pursuing new ideas and striving to address real-world issues, ultimately enhancing people's lives and making things easier for them.
